Long-Form Television Writing, Production And Research

I was fortunate to land an internship with CBS Sunday Morning during the summer of 2007.

Luckily for me, the show was understaffed and utilized interns in a way that gave me some fantastic hands-on experience.

At the top of this reel, you’ll see one of the Sunday Morning pieces I was able to assistant produce.

Working on that piece not only gave me a behind-the-scenes look at Ellis Island, I also learned valuable research techniques working with archival photos and video.

The reel also shows a piece I wrote, reported and produced while still in college.  It aired on a local station in Missoula, Mont., and took home 2nd place in the 2007 Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards.

The final segment on the reel is from an hour-long documentary on growing up in Montana.  It aired on Montana PBS and took home a Broadcast Educators Association award for Best Student Documentary in the Country and an SPJ Mark of Excellence award.
